I said this in another thread but.,
I see fishing having a lot better chances of opening then hunting.Fishing has overall a lot more support, local fishing spots that most people can utilize locally, lost revenue is high.
Hunting everybody wants to travel, not much support,
And I just don't see the governor lifting his stay at home order just yet ,and don't believe WDFW would support a local type hunt if they did they would of got it open by now.

This is probably correct as much as it saddens me. I don’t travel to turkey hunt. I could have killed a couple turkeys the last few weeks just mushroom hunting. But just opening fishing would be huge for people who use fishing for stress release. We need something real fast. All Freshwater fishing would be a decent start.

I think saltwater is more likely. Currently missing halibut and ling opportunities and shrimp is coming up. I think freshwater your more likely to stack people pretty close along shorelines,  saltwater puts a family or a couple buddies on a boat for the day where distancing from other boat's is the norm.. :twocents:

I’d be pretty happy to break out the 12 footer or hit the gun range
I can recreate locally
Turkeys not likely
Halibut in the straits a pipedream right now I suspect
Sheds next year
Looks like lots of Harley time this summer

Inslee is going to drag the fishing and hunting shut down as long as he can. It already should be open, what will be different may 4th?

I 100% agree with both statements and am 50/50 to whether it opens or not.  If it doesn't open, WDFW, State Reps, Inslee and everyone else I can get a hold of will get an ear full.  This has got to end....and should have ended a couple weeks ago.
Jrbel, maybe it would be prudent to call and email the county health department officials in Steven's, Pend Oreille, Okanogan, Ferry, Pacific, Callam and Grays Harbor counties. That's your stiffest opposition to welcoming all of the visitors from the greater Puget Sound region.  An educated and holistic view of the shutdown and reasoning would serve all advocates of reopening well.  :twocents:

They need a reminder this is an election year!  They are voted in to serve us the voters not their private concerns.  If he does not want to open hunting and fishing then he does not care about his political career.  We campaign and elect a better governor.

Theyre already getting visitors. Its not like no one is taking advantage of the time off work.

Up around Greenwater last Thursday I seen I don't know how many people camping and hanging out by the river. The river was busier than it is on a summer weekend with 10-15 cars piled into one spot. I get it - its Greenwater and not those counties, but if its happening there I'm sure its just as bad in those counties.

I wonder how many turkey "viewing" camps are set up in the forests around Chewelah/Colville? I'm sure theres some guys hunting coyotes/mountain lions with shotguns.

My point being - its happening anyway. I don't think officially allowing it is going to cause a flood of people because frankly, not very many people are following it anyway. Especially not other(hikers/bikers/etc) users of the forest.

"Immunity passports" in the context of COVID-19

Scientific Brief

24 April 2020

WHO has published guidance on adjusting public health and social measures for the next phase of the COVID-19 response.1 Some governments have suggested that the detection of antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID-19, could serve as the basis for an “immunity passport” or “risk-free certificate” that would enable individuals to travel or to return to work assuming that they are protected against re-infection. There is currently no evidence that people who have recovered from COVID-19 and have antibodies are protected from a second infection.

I can think of 1 major diff. May 4th happens to be the day before May 5th.  :chuckle: :chuckle: we will see how this all goes over if Inslee doesn't lift some obvious restrictions before cinco de mayo

Ya good luck with that...I've heard the passport thing before. Talk about privacy issues.
