Remington 700 problem

Ok Remington guys I just got a 700 in a 7mm ultra mag it's the one with the key safety lock my problem with it is about half the time the firing pin doesn't stay locked back when you run the bolt I haven't shot it yet I'm concerned it will fire when I close the bolt any help would be greatly appreciated

Sounds like sear engagement issues to me.

Jlocks suck but that’s purely a sear engagement issue. I can’t remember if the j locks still had the good adjustable trigger, if so someone set the screw too deep and you just need to turn it back. If it’s the stupid x Mark or whatever that thing is sealed and it’s easier to just buy a replacement timney. Take the stock off and look at what kind it has

I was afraid I would lock it and forget it,so I took mine off,didn't want to go hunting with it locked and no key.
