I'll follow the social distancing rules and over night camping rules but I'm still going turkey hunting and fishing next week.
These are the most vague bull S rules ever
I wouldnt hesitate at all to drag my camp trailer to any national forrest and camp while hunting and social distancing.

The deaths in the US are about 60,000 (and counting) after we pretty much shut the country down.  Schools closed, business closed, people told to stay home, far beyond anything I have ever seen in my lifetime.  What would they have been if we didn't?  We will never know for sure, but it's safe to say the numbers would be much higher.  We unfortunately have to make decisions based on imperfect data and looking back it's obvious we would have done some things different for sure.

From my seat, it's pretty scary that we shut down and there will still be maybe 75,000 Americans dead when it's all said and done.  That's a spooky number to me.  We did all we did and they still needed refrigerated trucks to store bodies because we couldn't keep up with the number of people dying in some areas.

I'm looking forward to hooking the boat up and getting back on the water on Tuesday like most of the others around here.  I hope we can keep the trend heading in the right direction and get safely back to work and play.

Can we have one thread where we focus on the positive.  Yes....the opening was not perfect and did not benefit everyone.....that sucks!!  I don't agree with it and I think the reasoning is foolish.  Now....at least we have turkey, lake, some ocean, bear, mushroom, hiking, etc. etc. etc......

Make this a happy thread and argue in the others.
There are so many statistics and purswasive arguments out there on all sides of this issue my head is dizzy!!!  All I know for sure is next week I can go chase some turkeys and drop a line in the water and that will cure my dizziness. I'm pretty happy about it!!!

It's only on state land that overnight stays aren't allowed.

Agreed, but there is still a stay at home order in effect.

I'm not trying to argue. I'd probably go turkey hunting if I had to make a decision. Just saying. We aren't supposed to be traveling for non-essential reasons.

How do you not travel while taking a day trip to go Turkey hunting?

And why is it safer for me to take a day trip than to camp where I never see anyone?

I don't think its selfish at all to recreate without putting others at risk.

When this first started I thought it was a joke and political. I changed my mind when people started dying so I followed the rules and haven't left my ranch except maybe 3 or 4 times. I feel bad and I'm sorry for those that lost loved ones. I really think that is was smart to SIP when we did or it might have been worse but it has gone too far.

I was wrong, it wasn't a joke but it certainly has become political. The numbers just haven't added up, Covid unfortunately attacked our elders but so does the flu every year. The FAKE news has done nothing but fear monger everyone and they are still doing it by talking about the next time it comes around. They haven't said one positive thing through this entire thing, nothing but negativity BS. Over two million people (original projection) did not die, more people have had Covid then they thought and were fine, 99.?? people have survived, all positives and not one word of this from FAKE news or some of our elected politicians.

Now they are telling you to stock up on meat, guess what? meat will become TP now. Glad I don't eat chicken and my freezers are full of deer, Elk and my own raised pork and beef.

I am so sick of all this BS, it has gone beyond ridiculous. Inslee is not a ruler he is an elected POS governor that thinks he can step on those that don't vote for him and see how far he can push us.

My business is seasonal (summer months) and I just lost my entire season to this Chinese Flu and more than likely will have to financially roll the next two seasons into the following years and so far I haven't qualified for the PPP or the stimulus. I need some sanity out of all of this so I'm going to take my daughter Turkey hunting locally, watch her blast a Turkey then hook up to my Bass boat and drive as far as I choose within this state and go fishing every day. Call me selfish or whatever you want to call me but I'm done with it. I have plenty of common sense and I can travel with family from the center of this state to where ever I choose and not stop till I get to my destination. If you are worried about me and others then stay home, we all have choices, use them wisely. I'm choosing to get my family back to a normal life, after all this is AMERICA!!

On May 5th - use some common sense, don't create crowds, pack up your food and water before you leave home, follow the simple Covid social distancing rules and go fishing, hunting, hiking where ever you choose. If this gets shut down again because of over crowding and people not following the rules I doubt it will be from the guys on this site that are going hunting and fishing with their families. Be smart about your travelling and please don't give King Inslee a reason to shut it down again.

We all know people who don't vote! We need them to vote and vote smart in November. This country needs it more then ever now. Our economy was rolling when this hit the fan. The sooner we can all get back to work the sooner we will have our strong economy back, these checks that most are getting won't last forever.

Have fun, be safe and healthy!!

Pinetar....you are correct.   This is real and then numbers are staggering.  Most of us (me included) headed the warnings and did what the government ask of us......but enough is enough.  This has brought us to the point we are now.....done with it all.

One point I would like to make being it has been a point of contention in almost all these arguments.

The death rate would likely have been the same regardless of the stay at home order.  All we did was slow the progression in an attempt to not overwhelm the medical system.  The medical professionals and scientist have all stated this.  The reality is the virus will spread until we have herd immunity, a vaccine or adequate treatments.  Our government has chosen this longer course and politicized the heck out of this virus.  Now our economy is paying the price and small businesses are going bankrupt and shutting their doors.  Our governor has seen that the people are tired of this shutdown and knows if he doesn't start opening things....there will likely be "some" civil unrest as seen by the organized protests.

It is very sad that people have died....but it is also sad that people die every day due to the seasonal flu, auto accidents, drugs, obesity, etc, etc, etc......  As with every other virus in the US...vulnerable people need to take precautions, non vulnerable people need to be responsible and our economy needs to run as usual.  Traveling to hunt, fish, hike and camp puts very few vulnerable people at risk of the done appropriately.

The reality of all these arguments......most who make the stay at home don't travel argument on this forum are people who live in areas that have turkeys, lakes, oceans, out their back door.  They are being selfish and wanting it all to themselves.  We see it all the time, the few selfish people on this forum have always made the statement of not allowing others to hunt their areas.......fish their waters......travel to their communities.....AS IF THEY OWN ALL THE PUBLIC LAND AND WATERWAYS.   :bash: :bash:  Now, who are the selfish ones??

I figured if we couldn't keep it positive, I would get back in the fight.   :chuckle: :chuckle:

The science proves it.   There is a video posted on here that shows how virus spread.  We will lose more lives to this virus.  We just spread it out over time.  We are not likely to have a vaccine for years (optimism 12-18 months).  We can completely shut things down and continue the slow spread but then we have the side effects of our economy crashing, suicide rates skyrocketing, civil unrest / possibly war (far fetched but could happen), etc.  so yes....I do believe it.  I’m in the medical field and the science doesn’t lie.   The only way to 100% stop the spread of this virus and limit death is 1000% quarantine and our nation will not allow that to happen.  Even then it will spread because people have to move about.

Please explain why you think everyone wants to stay locked up forever. You keep saying that, yet it's not even remotely accurate.

I think more people initially would have died had we not shut down but that only delayed the inevitable. It did prevent overwhelming the medical system. No cure means the virus will keep infecting us until about 80 percent of us have antibodies and the virus will die out. If you are under sixty-five and have no damaging health risks you are almost guaranteed to live should you get the virus. Us old folks that have other health issues are the ones at risk. Restarting the economy will increase the spread of the virus which will help us get to the 80 percent exposure over time and eventually decrease the risk for us old folk. Has to be controlled but needs to start immediately. Washington, California and Oregon have no excuse to not reopen. Inslee can't even figure out what to do about the schools. People in that system are frustrating that feckless Jay can't make a decision without Bill Gate's approval. In the mean time no plans are out concerning summer school or in the fall. Would be very easy to, at least, say that school in the fall will start on time and in the classroom. We know that the kids will spread the virus but eventually that will be helpful in ending the pandemic.
