Had this guy come running out to the squeak of my truck door when my wife got out at our property yesterday. He was in it hot and heavy. Scared the crap out of her when he gobbled from 30 yards in the brush. He saw the truck and still was strutting his stuff looking for the source of the hen he thought he heard. Tuesday can’t come soon enough.

Well the only time my buddy can get off now is the last week. By then the campgrounds and N. Cascade should be open. No idea how the hunting will be????
By that time it is like fall hunting.  Run and gun.

The Dawg hears them most mornings when she goes out behind the house. 😎😎

You can set your watch she is out about 5 am every day.

Can mid mornings be better this time of year? Hens go to nest and gobblers get lonely?

If it was a normal year yes but like I have been saying this is anything but a normal year.   They haven't been hunted till now.   I heard from my Save the Hunt coordinator who was out hunting said they were still in bigger flocks just splitting up.

Nothing to show for Tuesday’s effort but by 5:30 am on Wednesday I had to shoot this guy at 10 yards or he would have ran into me!

I should note that we stayed at Buck Canyon Lodge. It was an excellent place to stay and Rick and Wendy are great people!

It took 3 years until I finally had a bird come in close enough...then I missed! In hind sight, 35yds was to far of a shot, turkey fever got the best of me. I'll get out again Memorial Day weekend for revenge.
