Leupold vx5 hd cds
« on: June 27, 2020, 01:38:01 PM »
So I got my new scope all mounted up. I’m not sure how the turret works tho with the stop lock button? So once I get it dialed in the stop lock button is going to Be way off on the side. When they send me my custom made turret does it come with a new button m that will be right on top of the 100yard zero, and not off to the side or in front or whatever?

I could be wrong but once zeroed i THINK there is another littke screw under the cap that lets the dial rotate freely....loosen, set your zero, tighten, cap with marks back on, secure that onem

There are 3 set screws I believe, loosen those and spin the dial back to “zero” and tighten screws.

I have that scope and in the zero process now.

There are three Allen screws on the dial. Once zero, loosen the three screws and put the zero on dial to mark on scope. Re tighten screws. They are small don’t crank on them. Now when you dial up and back the lock will stop you on your zero.

This will show you the process. They are putting on a custom dial but the process is the same for your zero on stock dial.

Just an FYI on those little set screws. I have a VX3 on one of my guns and do quite a bit of traveling on a 4 wheeler with the gun in the rack.  Last year during a hunt I discovered the screws had backed out and the dial was free spinning on the turret.  Didn't have the small allen wrench with me.  I carry one in my pack at all times now just in case!  May even try a small dab of blue thread locker.

The zero stop is a great feature, I somehow had the habit of getting a full rotation off with my old scope and missed two animals because of it.

I have this same scope and couldn't be happier.  One comment to the OP, is that I'd recommend the CDS dial as it limits you greatly or requires you to order multiple dials for different areas.  I hunt multiple states, elevations and temperatures.  Learn MOA adjustments and you'll dial in to the exact conditions your hunting... :twocents:

I'll sell you a free CDS dial coupon that came with my scope.... :chuckle:
