Ultralight tripod
« on: May 08, 2020, 10:30:41 AM »
I’ve got the outdoorsmans and love it but I’d like to pick up an ultra light for certain trips. I seen a guy selling some at the sportsman’s show but can’t recall the name? Anybody remember? Thanks guys

If you absolutely must go ultra light I would most likely check out the KDC

But I have a very hard time justifying my steady image over the weight  :twocents:

Good luck !

The KDC is a nice 8oz alternative for steadying bino's only, IMO. Biggest spotter I'd consider ever running on top one would be a Kowa 554, and that would be for a closer up look only, no panning. :twocents:

I've got this one and love it, although I've got very little time spent with it to date. 2lbs 13oz
https://www.xc-m.promaster.com/3482

I took the ball head off(8oz) of it and added the spch20 fluid head(14oz)
https://promaster.com/Product/2435

so 3lb 3oz all up and I have a 20-60x85 Viper HD spotter on it so far so good.

I bought it at Cameraland NY. Call there and talk to Joel and tell him exactly what you're looking for and he'll steer you true. If you're a member of the Rokslide forum, I believe he'll give you a discount as well.

Sirui also makes a tiny little carbon fiber that is pretty dang light. I don’t remember the model off the top of my head but I ordered one a couple years ago to compare with Slik and Promaster. It was a quality feeling Tripod for how tiny it was, but I went with the Slik for a little bit more spotter stability at the expense of some weight
