Random points question
« on: May 11, 2020, 10:19:23 AM »
I realize that this would be like winning the powerball...twice, but theoretically, it is slightly possible at best.

With that said, I have an equal # of points for quality bull, bull and cow.  If possible, what would happen if I were to draw two of the tags?  I understand that I could only shoot one, so I would have to choose at that point, right?  So, if I were to draw a bull AND cow tag, I'd use up all my points for both?

Correct, I drew quality and antlerless the same year and had to choose. I lost all the points for my antlerless.

Yes if you drew bull and cow your points would go to zero for both categories.
You could hunt both seasons until you fill your tag.

It could be a good thing if the cow elk season is after the bull season. Would allow you to maybe be a little more picky about a bull you might shoot knowing that you have the cow elk hunt as a back up to filling your freezer.

Yep, it kind of sucks to basically lose part or all of your points totals, but when I drew Toutle quality and Margaret cow in 2012, I looked at it as a great fall back plan....lost my cow points though.

I know, i know, don't put in for multiple species if you don't want to draw, i get it.  But with drawing a special permit getting to be a OIL for good hunts, This is why I think we need a second draw.  Let people put in for whatever and give one week to call and turn in which permit they don't want, re instate their points and have a left over draw.  but it needs to be quick, like a week or two, heck they could charge another special permit fee and make more money off the second draw.    Flame away, heard it all before...  :chuckle:

All the state would need to do is have people log into their accounts and accept or decline tags after the draw. Declined tags go to the next person on the list. Its actually not that hard.

Even better, but most importantly give people their points back on the returned tags.

I like the idea of only one permit per species.
Return the points.
Or draw Quality, bull/buck, cow/doe. In that order.
Ounce you draw, you are eliminated from other draws.
Just gain a point.
But what will that do to draw odds.
Probably make very bad odds even worse.
