Planning a trip near Wenatchee or possibly Sinlahekin and found a site that talked about the 10 best hot spots in Washington. Two choices sort of close to me are one in Okanagan River drainage and the other in the Upper Yakima Valley near Cle Elum along the Columbia River up thru Wenatchee. After looking these places both over it doesn't look like there is any obvious access near the river in and around Wenatchee but the Sinlahekin has a wildlife refuge up there that would have more access. Wenatchee area appears to be more private and would need to go knock on doors or ask farmer John working in the field if we could hunt on their property.
I've hunted eastern Washington a few times near Spokane and found it pretty much a private land hunt (at least my experience) my first round. Second round we ended up moving up to Chewelah and hunted National Forest Land and some isolated areas bordering private land. Found birds but nothing would cooperate. Probably lack of experience didn't work in our favor.
Is it worth hunting without known access near Wenatchee or just head up north and make the long drive for a more obvious access area? Not looking for your spot just some high level advice. Thanks
I don't much like long drives, so I hunted closer to home my first several years of turkey hunting.
I now just make the trek to the NE so I can get into birds much more regularly.
Good luck whatever you choose.
Enjoy the time outdoors with your boy.
