Douglas bear 2020

Me and the boss went out for the more turkey /Bear hunting. Right off if my guide had been alittle better at positioning the truck I could have got a gobbling tom but I missed. Then we drove to a couple other areas seen some more birds but nothing I could get a shot at. So we headed into one of our favorite spots and we noticed some grass being nipped but was growing back and with no poo or tracks hard to say what it was. As we got to the back of where we had to turn around a tom was starting in the road. Of course the boss is yelling "he's getting away shoot shoot." And bam nice tom down. We got some pictures and headed out. He told me about some old meadow's as we where driving and said we should check them. Right off as we started to walk the old road into them we noticed sticks and bark turned over we both thought bear feeding on insects. As we got to the old meadow we found 4-5 old piles of poo about a week ago he was there heavy. nothing fresh so we headed back for the truck I took alittle different route back and just out of sight from the other trail fresh poo so we discussed the situation and I decided to walk a ridge out and boss man would pick me up on the other end. Not long after splitting up I found another fresh pile. So I kept working down the ridge to find no more sign. The next morning I went scouting for turkeys for the next group of hunters coming in. That evening I decide to go check that spot for new bear sign and then roost birds for our clients right at dark. I got clear back in where the good bear sign was and on a long straight stretch I seen her a nice chocolate phase bear. So I grab my rifle and loaded the chamber set the rifle on the road and got a range 286 not too bad with a prone shot so I got comfortable and it stepped off the edge of the road so I started to walk up and it stepped back out. Go prone again 250 this time turned the scope back a few clicks got settled in right on the shoulder bang seen her role. As I was get the next round cambered I seen her side down into some brush. So I gathered myself head down to where she was. Got there and no bear I thought to my self no I seen her role looked for a few seconds and found blood ok she's hit good. She ended up draging her self about 20 yards into a little thick spot I just couldn't see into but once in there in seen her. Cool got my second bear. Set the camera up a got a few photos but the boss got more back at the lodge.

Nice job on a great looking bear! I am heading there next week - do you have any suggestions on good glassing spots or places you would go again in that unit? Many Thanks -
