Moses Lake Drowning
« on: May 15, 2020, 10:03:40 AM »
Anybody know the details of the fisherman who fell out of his boat and drowned yesterday?
https://www.yaktrinews.com/authorities-searching-for-body-of-man-who-fell-into-moses-lake/

Ive never fell out of a boat but...my ex father in-law used to have a 14' Tracker bass boat that I didnt feel real safe being up front in when he would get on the throttle. I'd put my life preserver on and grab the tow rope that was hooked on the eye on the front of the boat bare back bronco style. He was about 280lbs, and when he would lean over the side of the boat to wash his hands I thought we would capsize.

Of course he was a bit of a bully and found it amusing trying to pitch me out of the boat when we would go steelheading in December. >:( Had me wondering if the life preserver would float my fat @$$ while i was wearing carhart coveralls, longjohns and a hoody.

Prayers to the family.

Terrible way to be reminded to always wear your PFD.
Pain is temporary, achieving the goal is worth it.

I didn't say it would be easy, I said it would be worth it.

Every father should remember that one day his children will follow his example instead of his advice.

Very sad...Feel bad for the family, and the MLFD, MLPD & GCSO personnel that tried so hard to find him.
I felt like a one legged cat trying to bury a terd on a frozen pond!

Never be too proud to admit that you cant swim well or that your best days physically are behind you. Nobody will think less of you for wearing a lifevest.
https://www.kpq.com/grant-county-sheriffs-office-identifies-man-from-moses-lake-drowning/

"The Grant County Sheriff’s Office have identified the man who drowned Friday in Moses Lake near Blue Heron Park as 41-year-old Kelly Ellingson of Moses Lake.

According to the Department, Ellingson and a companion launched a boat before attempting to return to the dock to retrieve a forgotten item.

They say he accelerated while making a turn causing both occupants to fall out of the boat.

The other person was able to swim to shore. Neither was wearing a life vest.

Deputies are calling this a terrible accident."
