Idaho Moose Unit 2, Mt Spokane North/South info
« on: May 18, 2020, 02:14:38 AM »
Got lucky and drew the one non res tag in unit 2 Oct 1-14. Since this is a OIL tag I am looking for any info I can get about the unit or even moose hunting in general(calling tactics, patterns, terrain they like) I plan on going over to the unit a handful of times before the season starts to mainly get the lay of the land and road systems so I know what to expect. The unit buts up to Washington’s Mt. Spokane north and south so any experiences in those units the last few years would help a lot too especially some pics of bulls so I know what to shoot or pass.

Buy and Inland Paper pass and your best bet would be to enter about Twin Lakes and work west up hill toward Mt Spokane

Thanks thats one of the areas I have been looking over on OnX and google earth looks to be a lot of clear cuts in the area. With the IEP pass are all those roads drivable by truck or are some of the roads gated or dug out that you could walk or ride quads down?

There’s plenty of gated roads mostly farther north than going in at twin

Wife had the MT Spokane south cow moose tag 3 years go, tagged out the first day by 8am, she was with one he'll a big bull moose,  wife wanted to shoot it I stead.......lol

Camped at resort on the lake, and had 2 ID guys that a tag hunting, both tagged out in 3 days, one small bull but one huge monster too.......

Thanks for the feedback I have a few areas mapped out that I plan to get some feet on the ground and put some trail cams out.

Congrats, I drew a unit 5 moose tag. Sept.15-Dec. 1. The only nonresident one also..also drew a Wyoming moose tag 2 years ago..but after 40 years of applying in this state still nothing. Kill some wolves while you are there.
