Stevens County Turkeys
« on: April 08, 2009, 09:36:39 PM »
Just got back this evening from my place up by Kettle Falls, I was hoping to see quite a few turkeys on the way up. Saw a few around the Creston cutoff road by Hawk Creek grade and a few around Fruitland,Hunters, and Rice. Don't know if it was just the time of day but I thought I would have seen more than I did as usually there is turkeys everywhere. The turkeys I did see were not really bunched up but were in for the most part singles or two's and three's. A couple nice groups of 12 or more around Hunters and the mouth of the Colville river.  As a bonus on the trip I got a speeding ticket for 67 mph in a 55 zone. I've been driving that road almost 2 times a month or more since 1971, My 7th ticket on that road so far. Maybe I should slow down. :dunno: Anyway thought I would pass the info along.

This morning in my lower field...  there were 8 hen's with 6 jake's all strutted out...  then 6 more hen's with a nice tom came in a bit later.
