Thanks, I’m stopping to make a cup of coffee so I can say more.  This spring bear was epic, saw around 15-16 bears the first two trips, partner missed a bear, then a week later put one down but it went down a rock face, didn’t and couldn’t find the bear, he was solo on that trip.  I went solo on this trip, our schedules just didn’t match up.  Came in Wednesday night after work, just in time to get my tent set up right at dark. Thursday I saw 5 bears!!  One right in the morning at 5am just below my camp, but he saw me first and that was that. All day long I was seeing bears but they were just too far away.  Got up this morn at 5, walked to my look out below my tent and saw nothing.  Got loaded up, was walking to another look out and there he was on the hill side below camp on a steep ridge.  Ranged at 384, I was shaking like a tree in a wind storm, used my pack as a rest on a dead tree, still couldn’t stop shaking!!!  Took some deep breaths, calmed down a bit and luckily the bear was still feeding.  Figured it was a female at this point. Dialed in the huskemaw to 375, turned up the eye piece almost 20, and waited for a perfect shot.  Boom! The bear was moving very slow, Boom, it just stopped for a second and then went slightly up hill, that worried me for a second till I could tell it was hurt bad!  He stopped on the rock face facing away from me, BOOM! Disappeared behind a small tree.

So I text a couple people, pack up, get my bearings on where I saw him last and head down.  Kinda lost where it was last till I saw the blood trail, looked like an OJ Simpson murder scene, easy find! Had to tie him off (turns out it was a boar) to a tree to keep from rolling down the hill. This is the point where you realize how bad it sucks to go solo!  I’ve been in some tough spots, but skinning this bear and de-boning was a complete pain.  As I’m typing sitting here at the meat, finishing my coffee, the coyotes or wolves just started howling!  Talk later, I need to get out of here.

Happy for you!
