Father inlaw drew quality elk in toutle for archery he's pumped
I honestly don't even know how they can call the Toutle unit  "quality"  anymore.  The herds there are a fraction of what they used to be and many have hoof rot.  There are some elk left, but I wouldn't go in with super high expectations.  Don't mean to be a Debbie downer, just a heads up, I don't think I'd pass on many bulls you may find.

Thanks Debbie for  the update  he and i know lots about the area and current conditions . Some people care about th opportunity as much as the quality I'm sure he will be happy to just go. Thanks again Debbie

Toutle is fun unit, and he will see some elk for sure.  I drew it for cow last year and only hunted it twice I think during the late season.  Got into elk both days but didnt kill one.

Yes he will have a blast and at the end of the day that's all that matters

The older I get the less I care about the size of animal or even if I fill my tag. Have fun and enjoy the opportunity. Should be an awesome hunt

I had recently set a email to a representative of Hancock and haven't heard anything back yet in a few days. My general enquiry was to see if they have any available permits or if they are going to continue to keep the area closed due to COVID-19? I figured someone on here might have some information and figured it was worth asking. I was fortunate enough to draw a rifle bull permit in the White River and was more interested in having the permit as a back up to have more area available to hunt.

As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.
