Anybody on here part of the lantern fleet that hits Loon, Deer, Davis, and other lakes for Kokanee at night? Or is this a forbidden topic? I used to partake every summer back in the day, I sure miss it. Really fun fishery. Can't imagine why those techniques wouldn't work for Western WA kokes as well?

How about when a bat hits your rod while doing a flyby in your boat lights? Something about boron rods made it not show up on their echo location...
I got to fish Loon Lake at night when I was six years old. We stopped on our way to the Calgary Stampede Rodeo. It was one of my most memorable fishing trips. Not only did I get to stay up with grownups, but I also got my own tin cup with "special fishing juice" and elk Jerky, my "special fishing juice" tasted a lot like hot chocolate. Not sure what my uncle's tasted like, but he got awful funny as the night went on. We caught a bunch of Kokes, but the highlight was when something grabbed my line and took of! It smashed my finger against the gunnel, but I held on.It took almost all my line out, then we heard a huge splash like something jumped and it broke off. My uncle said it was probably a big Mackinaw. I had no clue what that was at the time or if they existed in Loon Lake, As far as I was concerned, it was a whale!I would love to go Koke fishing at night again. I doubt it would match the first trip.
