Mt Adams Quality Bull - Rifle
« on: June 16, 2020, 09:23:03 AM »
I would love to hear from some previous tag holders.  I know the area pretty well and tagged along 10 years or so ago when a family member drew.  Any general info on elk behavior that time of year (Spet. 21-25) would be appreciated.

I had the tag years ago and it is a great hunt.  There was a 10 day rest period between archery and the special tag which was good.  I see the archery season overlaps with it this year which is a bummer as there are quite a few bow hunters in the area.  Pack horses are a definite plus as it's a big area.  I took a Dandy that was radio collared and ear tagged by the Yakima's 2 years earlier 13 miles out of Toppenish!!

No pics????????   With that being said, wasn't there a 400+ bull killed by an older lady right by a parking area a few years back?

Admittedly I wasn't aware of that until it was brought up in this thread.  In the past it has always been after archery, correct?  Never thought to look before applying.

Get high in the alpine stuff and shoot a pig.

Don't worry about dem stick flingers or negative nellies.

I had that tag back in about 2005 or so. October hunt then. The bitch from the bowhunters was that the rut does not start until bow season is almost over. It was an incredible hunt, surrounded by screaming bulls 2 days in a row. Did not kill a big one but had a couple of near misses on whoppers! I shot a smaller one because I had to go back to work. I got back to work and found out I had been laid off. OUCH! The great memories remain though!
