I live 10 minutes from Cabelas and I would never go there for a gun sale based on all the stories I hear. 2-5 hour wait?!?!
The trick to Cabelas/Bass Pro is to buy their doorbusters online and go on a weekday in the morning. It's just as fast as a small shop.
If you went on a weekend you would probably be there all day. I stopped at Tacoma Bass Pro on a Saturday once and it was totally nuts.
