Any Tips?

Ok, so im new to the shed hunting game, and im having a blast just gettin outta the house and walkin the hills and bein in beautiful country, the landowner that ive been hunting on tells me the animals have moved on so now i figured i cant stress them out if they r gone, this isnt too far past the woodshed restaraunt, i figured you guys would know if the elk are back up higher, ive seen them on the side hills off the road, but i dont know if they are still in the surrounding area, so does anybody know? and what other basic tips would be helpful for a newcomer to shed hunting??? thanks, i appreciate it!!!

same rules apply to wet side except binocs jungle,wet have found a couple of good ones just csouting for bear

Look close to the fences, they lose horns while jumbing.

yeah fences, loggs, ditches, guard rails ect. Go heavy on the glassing either side of the state.And dont be affraid to wear a pair of boots out.. here some from this spring..

What ever Mr. I find one from the road every time.  I guess a gimmie is ok cause I know how many miles you put on this year. We need pedometers next year. I bet guys would be shocked to know what kind of miles Team Leadslinger puts on for their sheds.

I've probably put 30 plus miles on in the last 10 days and so far only 1/2 of a 5 point from last year that I found yesterday.  It was snowing and blowin hard.  That 30 was on my feet.  Have cheated a little the last two times up, used the snowmobile and took the long way in instead of 6-7 miles in from the bottom on foot.  Still, ya have to pound some ground.

What ?       Even a blind squirrel finds a nut once and a while.

I don't know how many miles I have this year, But I need to call Cabelas and see if they will warranty my boots, they are shot. The Leadslingers have some serious miles this year for sure!

Like its been said before Lots of hiking and lots of glassing, every year I find more and more with the binos.

Up to the top, down to the middle, back to the, ah dam right by the truck.  "Anywhere there are elk".  good luck.  if you look for sheds like i do for them, there are no boots that will survive. just some last a little longer than others.

go were the animals are, if there arnt any animals then there arnt any sheds, oh ya and watch out for people, they are your worst enemy.

follow the elk trails , in the steep area i focus on benches on south facing slopes.  look for funnels  , cliffs,fences,river banks, roads   anything that will concentrate critters in one area
