any young turkeys being seen?
« on: June 29, 2020, 11:06:41 PM »
I have not seen a single young of year yet. My sister lives near Sacheen lake , they have seen a lot of adults but only one young. We have had some hard spring rains, that can affect hatching success.

They're young still, seeing plenty out my way and yes we got DUMPED on more than a few times this year.
Kindly do not attempt to cloud the issue with too many facts.

Have seen two moderate sized broods, so much spring growth you not see many

I've seen the freeway turkeys at Sullivan with a brood.

Just saw my first group of quail puff balls last weekend.  I think it's just a little late.

We have been seeing a few at our cabin north of Spokane.  The numbers are less than normal but they might just be a little later than usual this year.

I've seen a few hens with chicks in tow.   Will say I've seen more lone hens than normal though.

Not near as many as last spring but yes we have seen some young ones.  Even saw a few baby grouse which surprised me with how wet the spring has been.

Yup

Fewer, but out there.

With this years messed up turkey season I think it'll be a wash and spring 2021 will see a lot of mature birds.

Here around republic I’m seeing quite a few. Broods of 6-12. Let my dogs out this morning and 2 hens and what looked like 2 dozen little ones flew into our tree. Scarred the heck out of my pup haha. We’ve had em around for a couple weeks already so they’re getting big
May my presence go unnoticed, may my shot be true, may the blood trail be short.

Amen

Great hatch here this spring. Saw three hens with close to thirty poults on yesterday mornings run, it looked like the biggest quail covey I’d ever seen.

:yeah:  I think there will be more 2 to 4 year toms than ever before. Maybe not too many jakes, I'm unsure about that yet in my area?

Definitely a drop in polts, lotta hens with nothing in tow, or maybe 2-3 or maybe 4 polts in tow

But I think itll be great next spring, all the year old birds are doing well.  I see a lot of adults!
