I agree with the SBR 9mm....Even an AR in a pistol caliber (or even a AR pistol), Keltec Sub2000, CMR30, AK (AK pistol), PS90, bull pup style in any caliber, and even a hipoint rifle!!!! The best is train her to shoot anything and everything that is available in the house. Both my daughters are well under 100lbs, but them plus the wife can shoot/handle any weapon I have, it doesn't mean they like to, it means if the situation arises they can.

Light, fast, accurate, carries lots of rounds.......I like the following for women in a home defense situation.

1.  AR pistol / SBR if shouldered in 300 blackout with a can.  Clearly the can is optional but it sure makes it nice to shoot subsonic rounds indoors without losing your hearing and becoming disoriented.

2.  keltec Sub2000 in 40 s&w with a 22 round magazine.  Put a red dot on top and it is super accurate to 100 yards.

3.  Tactical 20 gauge pump shotgun with collapsible stock and extended tube.

I'll give you an example of what goes down in a very heated situation. True story my brother investigated. 5 policemen in an adjoining motel room were listening in to the room next door as an undercover narc was dealing with a known violent dealer. As the situation worsened the undercover narc gave the emergency password and pulled his own weapon. He shot 4 times at the dealer, hitting him once. The other 5 burst into the room and started shooting. They managed to hit the undercover cop once, and totally missed the dealer. 3 of the 5 police weapons jammed, one emptied his gun and the 5th with a double barrel shotgun finally  contained the dealer. These were all trained, experienced policemen. In a heated, adrenaline flowing situation it is critical that you keep it as simple and deadly as possible. Stay away from the fancy stuff, even a pump shotgun can be difficult for a relatively inexperienced shooter to deal with in the heat of the moment.

A youth 20 gauge shotgun, pretty simple and no aiming needed.

Stagecoach 20 or 410 dbl barrel with buckshot. A whole bunch of lead going out with two shots. Cheap to buy.

Why is this topic in the classified section? There are three other places you could put it.

Our home defense is a Remington 1100 extended mag, flashlight attached, with OO buckshot. Auto has less recoil than pump, but with buckshot it still has recoil. It was a bit much for my Misses but after really practicing a few different times she does just fine.... I wouldn't want to have her shooting at me these days..... Point is, it was Too Big until a lot of practice, now she's super confident with it....
It works for us....  :twocents:

Ding ding, winner!  Nothing sais "I know you're there, time to leave or face the consequences" like a few big dogs charging the fence and/or a house entrance door (good to have the doggie door to maximize the big dog, slime ball deterrent method effectiveness).  And yes, the audible "chunk, chunk" of chambering a round in a pump shotgun drives the message home in earnest.

Small frame wheel gun like a 38
And agree with the spray As well
If your concerned with 2 legged problems
A can of black flag wasp spray works well I hear
And can be kept in plain sight for a fast grab

I'm a strong proponent for small 38 revolvers for self defense.  Almost nothing to get wrong or malfunction. Point pull trigger.  Its my wifes carry choice and most of the time mine also and I have plenty of options.
