March Point Boat Launch

High everyone. I am looking to test the limits of my river boat and chuck some crab points in by the Anacortes Refineries. As I have a sled I would rather not run the channel from Twin Bridges out. I know there is a "launch" off of the east side of March Point.

Anyone know what tide you need to be able to use it? My boat doesn't take much.

That only has water at high tide and is on a long flat. It's also still a little ways from decent crab. Larrabee state park is another option that's also tide limiting.

Fidalgo bay RV has a boat ramp but I am not sure they let non-guests use it http://www.fidalgobay.com

Are you set on Anacortes or are you open to other areas?

For example, the crabbing off Oak Harbor is killer, I can send you some locations...

Thanks everyone, interesting to know the various access points available! I am pretty locked into the area, I have been crabbing the area north of Saddlebag for a long time, that and Skagit Bay. However, that was always out of my dad's Olympic. With my boat shortening the run is a bigger priority.

throwingsticks there is another launch on March Point, on the eastside of the point (northern part of the eastside) it is public but similar to Bayview is a high tide deal. I appreciate the offer on other places to go but I don't see myself driving all the way over to Oak Harbor. I live in Lake Stevens these days.

Seriously. Those crab near the refinery are toxic, couldnt pay me to eat them and i love crab

On a side note dont eat the crab at the casino either. Thats refinery crab and i hear they buy dead crab and serve it too

Even cornet bay is a better option, you can stay in the protection of the bay and wont have to worry about deception pass and the crabbing is just as good as anywhere and its only about 15 minutes more of a drive. I used to commercial crab for a living so im not just making this stuff up, just trying to point ya into some higher quality crab that isnt loaded with chemicals like mercury and other carcinogens that the refinery leaches out into the bay

Launch might be a strong word for that.
If you live in Lake Stevens there are closer places for crab, but I see the draw of going someplace familiar. Have you ever been to the jetty island? your boat will make it there and you place to chill while soaking the pots

Yes, by "launch" it might be more accurate to say "hole in drift wood". I also have a clamming spot out there which is part of the appeal.

Night Goat where we crab is a couple miles from the refineries, and I definitely don't go to casinos haha.

I have crabbed out of Utsalady but I have also driven there to find there wasn't any parking left and had to drive home.

Just weighing the options. Cornet is one for sure.

You have to be careful there at high tide. If your vehicle is stopped right at the top in the loose gravel/driftwood/rotten eelgrass while you are retrieving your boat there is a good chance you’ll get stuck even with four wheel drive.

The refineries are under such stringent regulations for any leaks or sheen's seen on the water....  Don't you think the biologists monitor the crab and aquatic fisheries in the area and would report high counts of mercury or carcinogens in the water...  People like you need to keep quite....

 We've launched a Hewescraft Riverrunner there a couple of times.

 I work at one of those refineries (almost 30 years). I eat crab and clams from there.
