Poachers scoping out private land in graham.
« on: July 04, 2020, 09:45:13 AM »
Have been hearing a few of the land owners around me saying a guy in a new Toyota Tundra has been coming up to them and talking to them about the elk he has been watching on there land. They said he seemed off and something didn’t seem right about the guy. One of the land owners sons said that he has been caught before in a possible poaching situation. Was wondering if anyone has heard or had this happen to them.

There are actually 2 different " Guide Services" in the area. Can't stand either one of them from personal experiences and or encounters with them. I've got some stories thats for sure. Nothing good comes from these clowns. Wouldn't surprise me of the ones in question to the OP being these clowns.

:yeah: I hung some signs up and will be on the look out. I hope nothing comes of it but it sounded like they had all ready been trespassing watching the animals from the sound of it.

notify the local WDFW agent so he can keep tabs on him before the season..... or possibly a sting operation by acting like a prospective client.

Yeah I have cameras up now and am adding a few to the property and a few of the land owners around me are as well. A sting op isn’t a bad idea. Never thought of that

Well if done properly than yes you are correct. But what I was told was he told the land owner next to me was that last year he leased and hunted land and told him where it was and was a lie as we both know the land owner and contacted him and he said no one was supposed to be hunting the land. The pictures were of his land so he has been watching and implying that it’s he’s lease. Seems odd  is why I added the BS part and from the “ off “ feeling they got from him

10-4 I gotcha. If he's lying about some of the property saying he has leases to but doesn't just to get clients is b.s.  and not right as for the off feeling I've heard that a few different times

Yeah one of the land owners is an older gentleman that we all look after and has been taken advantage of before and hate to see that. I just hope none of this is the case of what’s going on. Went to sportsman’s today and found one camera at a decent deal to give to the land owner. But dam they were mostly sold out. Everything in the store from backpacks to leashes to cameras was wiped out

One of my co workers lives out there and has had run ins with a fella. Try’s to get onto his land and land around him. Tells me he patrols the roads in the mornings. He also thinks that someone is flying a plane around to find the elk??

If you can see the tail number its pretty easy to look up the owner.

I’m not trying to beat around the bush. I just didn’t want to go out spewing names and end up wrong. I was wanting to know if more people on here have had this issue and was the same person so I can maybe gather a better picture of what’s really going on and contact authorities and come to them with proof. As several land owners have now put cameras up specifically to catch a plate number as well as I have also. I just wanted to go about this right. I don’t want an all out interweb attack ya know just facts and proof. As far as how it keeps going I have no idea. People can be pretty tricky especially with this stuff.

It has been pretty quiet the last few days except for someone just went and vandalized his heavy equipment as well as decided that they could dump what I assume is a stolen boat.  >:(

My brother has some land directly across from the landfill and he has had people sneaking back the last few years.  We are definitely going to be setting up a few cameras back there to see if we can catch them.  We did also notice a plane last year flying suspiciously low in the general area possibly scouting the elk out.

Unfortunately the area seems to be getting worse it had gotten a lot better in over the last 10 years from what it used to be but slowly getting worse again. Checked the cameras on my place for foot traffic and nothing. One of the land owners next to me got a couple of people trespassing on his cameras.

Last week I had somebody flying suspiciously low and slow over my hunting property in Graham. It was an older looking, light tan plane, couldn't see any tail markings or numbers.

Not that there aren't poachers and scumbags around, but the planes could very easily just be flying low because they're close to the kapowsin Airport or they're just admiring elk.  Trespassing is a serious problem  out in the area.  Ive chased plenty off my place, but not everyone has bad intentions
