Looking for suggestions on cold weather pants and jacket for late November montana

merino wool base layer. Wool Pants.  Fleece top.   Puffy jacket when needed.    Rain Gear cover ( Kuiu Chugach).    Bulletproof.

First Lite Chamberlin puffy jacket. Wore it last year during a two day 0* stretch in Montana during November. Warmest puffy I’ve ever had. Warmer and more comfortable than my buddy’s kuiu super down pro whatever one he had!

Layer with Merino wool!

You hiking a lot or spending a considerable time not moving much? That will dictate which route you should go.

Plan on hiking to a glassing point spending time on glass then moving to a new location if need be so mostly stationary

  layers, layers, layers, best way to go.  Puffy is a must!  I bought the puffy pant from kuiu this year and used them to sleep in, amaze balls!!  And if it was real cold out, I think those pants will be great!

I picked up last year the Kuiu 210 zip off long underwear. They are perfect to keep in your pack and just throw on if you are going to sit for a while. You can just drop your pants without taking your boots off, throw them on and pull your pants back up. That along with a puffy on top kept me much more comfortable last year

One of the best designs out there for layering.  So quick and easy to get on/off.

I got the pants but weird shape - skinny legs, low waist, couldnt get them to fit.  Good in concept if they fit you.

I've got an assortment of layering options from most of the brands already mentioned. The zip-off long underwear are awesome. I would recommend getting a couple pairs, one lighter and a heavier weight. Kuiu was the original maker and now First Lite has jumped into the game. Everyones mentioned puffys and those are great. Take it a step further and get zip off puffy pants. They are awesome for when you are stationary in the extreme cold. I'll also sometimes run a thinner puffy vest underneath your puffy coat so you are basically running a puffy on top of a puffy!  Don't forget a good pair of gaiters.

I'm a KUIU guy, but I have worn the Cabela's Wooltimate in Montana with great results.
