Glad to see some nooks getting caught! The Elliott Bay fishery was rough on me! I fished Friday evening after work and again this AM. Not even a sniff! Saw 1 fish caught. Fish checker said Friday AM was decent which is typical but slow since. Not many boats Friday night, thought I would connect for sure then but Saturday AM was pretty busy but still not like the old days. Gonna hold out for a Willapa trip later this month and that will be it for my salmon efforts this year. Turning fully to hunting this fall.

Good work fellas!

I was able to finally get out to the sound yesterday. We put in around 7 and fished until 5:30. We started out at jeff’s head and fished there until noon. LOTS of boats! After a few shakers and no real action, we decided to switch spots and target coho. Lines go in the water and 5 mins later fish on, long story short line got tangled and the fish was at the surface 10’ behind the boat flopping around trying to spit the hook. Well, it worked, fish lost. We quickly got that mess untangled and put my line back in. About 10 mins later bam bam bam, fish on! This guy was a jumper, needless to say I lost him as well. Both were average sized coho. Got the line back in the water and that was the extend of the bite.

Around 2 we started to see bait balls and targeted our line depth to those. About 15 mins later, pop goes my rod off the rigger. I reel quickly and the fight was on! We played the game of I got you at the boat, ohh no you don’t for about 20 mins. We finally get the fish in the net and it‘a a hog! I ask my dad “is there an adipose fin, is there an adipose fin”....no fin!! Fish is in the boat and the Rick Flare woos and high fives begin!

The fish measured in at 36” and weighed in at 19.7 pounds. Great day out on the water!

Finally back after a 10 day reunion.  Was hoping to see some more Kings caught.  What depth are the silvers at up at Jeff Head.  Thanks!  Will make a report or two this week.

This is a simple and great answer! The depths change so fast at Jeff’s head it’s hard to say a successful depth, follow the bait!

We weren’t at Jeff’s head when I caught my chinook, but I was running a 15’ set back and 90’ off the ball. We were targeting coho where we had success at the end of least season. We had lines at 40’, 60’ and 90’. Whether it was depth or my set up we’ll never know but my rod was the only rod seeing action.

Hit area 10 again yesterday. Got a later start than I was hoping for but it was an overall nice day out on the water!

Put in at 1:20 and fished until 8:30. Hooked up on a fish around 5, never had a visual but it fought like a king. After 3 shakers, a  dogfish and two flounders my rod started to do the salmon dance! Fish on and in the boat, first keeper of the day was a coho at 6:45 pm.

Good work man! Nice fish 👍🏼👍🏼. Thanks for the update. It’s always good to get good clean water. The other day it was an all you can eat salad bar. I’ll be out there tomorrow.

Yes, same spot yesterday had tons of weeds, today I didn’t have to clean the gear more than once or twice. So nice.  Crazy how things can change one day to the next. Same time, basically same tide, and totally different.

Do you mind me asking what they were biting on? I caught my king off a purple haze flasher and a homemade white hoochie with a pearl skirt. Landed the coho with a red racer flasher and a silver/black front and all white back coho killer laced with krill gel. The coho’s belly was stuffed full of bait fish, I must’ve just ticked him off, no way was he hungry.

2 nice kings and a coho yesterday.
LOTS of boats out, it's still not like it was last summer but it seems to slowly be picking up.
