Queets chrome
« on: April 13, 2009, 04:22:00 PM »
My dad and I snuck off last Thursday and managed to get our boat wet. Topped off the trip with a few steely's too. These pics are kind of cool. Floated the lower part on Thursday evening then we put in at Matheney creek on Friday and floated down to the Queets. One obstacle we had to get around :chuckle: Here are a few pics. Enjoy. Please no internet police reminding me about taking nates out of the water for pics. I've been fishing steely's over ten years and have never kept a single nate. I only fish plugs too so every fish is released without any problems. Single barbless hooks I'll add. We hooked and landed 7 fish and lost two screamers that were high teens or low twenties.

Looks like you had fun w/ the old man, and thats all that matters.  Last yr. on the Klickitat there was a log across the river that took a couple of boats.  looked about the same, water was a little faster, and the spot in the river was a channel with a safe way and one that put you in the fast water straight at it, which caused people issues for a while.  congrats on the fish, thanks for the snap shots
Work sucks!!!! I should be shed hunting

Save that picture of the boat on top of the log.  You will never forget trips looking at pictures like that.

Nice fish. I was up there last weekend rowed across the river up at the campground and hiked up the trail with my nine year old looking for elk. Should have taken my pole I guess but we had other things we were looking for. Gotta love the Queets. nwhunter

Dude, you shouldn't take nates out of the water! :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle:
As long as we have the habitat, we can argue forever about who gets to kill what and when.  No habitat = no game.

Did you have to go up the West Boundary Rd to get to the Matheny, or is the road open again
