My father drew this tag in 2010 and we hunted the unit for 6 days before he killed his moose. I know that in 10 years the reprod clear cuts that we hunted are more than likely too tall and thick to hunt now. I plan on two trips scouting for new areas to concentrate on but I would love to hear from others that have been in the area and see what recommendations they have. I learned how to call moose in 2010 in which we had alot of response to-so I think I can probably make it happen again with good habitat. Any advice would greatly appreciated! I want to make this a memory in which my son will never forget.

I have no skin in the game, so I am not being sarcastic or have any ill will

I am of zero assistance, but he drew at 18?!?!?!?!   WOW.  Congrats and good luck with the hunt

Its not just a matter of cuts growing, the moose numbers arent what they were 10 years ago.  Keep thst in mind as far as your expectations go.  Good luck

I have 6 different moose on 1 camera in 2 weeks. Only 2 young bulls though. What unit number is that tag good for?

Have you been scouting??  If not, get out there from Sullivan lake to the south, around bead lake. Cover the roads, all of them, get scratches on the truck!  What I learned on my hunt last year is the moose travel on the roads a lot.  Travel between north baldy and south baldy, get out and call every so often.  Good luck

We have been over scouting 2 times this summer and will finish it out on the weekend of September 19th. We have only seen 1 cow moose thus far but it is still early. If any bow hunters in the area see any thing good - please give me a shout.

Don't worry about not seeing much this summer as those trips should have been focused on learning the roads and picking out spots to camp. As the rut gets closer, the moose will be more active. Drive a bunch, stop and call, listen and give them time to respond. If you do get a response, don't hesitate to give them an hour or more, even if they go silent and they can still be headed your way. We had a bull that didn't respond to a single call, show up EXACTLY where I had been sitting over an hour later.
