Idaho Tag Exchange
« on: July 23, 2020, 12:29:16 PM »
Hey All,

Don't forget that Idaho had some leftover deer tags available today and I was also able to exchange my whitetail only tag for a general deer tag online.  I need to send in my old one, but you can still do it for a very nominal fee.

Today is the day if you want to do that.

How do you go about starting the exchange? I bought a whitetail only when the general deer was sold out.

I'm pretty sure both options were available.  I would assume they didn't sell out in a day, but who knows.

I do think I have to mail my whitetail one in to be able to receive the new one... not entirely sure how that works, but I guess I just send it to the Boise address...?

I didnt have a tag and bought today.. they took the returned plus the outfitter tags that didn’t sell out, turned them into general deer tags and that’s how they had 1400 tags. I lucked out i believe this was the first year they’ve done it this way. (Only hunted Idaho one year)

yes, you send the whitetail tag to the boise address and then they will send you the general tag.  at least thats what online says, and the person at the cda office that i called said the same thing.  this is a great way to support the sportsman,  HEY WASHINGTON, look next door towards the east and take a hint!!!!!!!

Darn! Wish they would have waited till August till they made the unsold outfitter tags available as general tags so they could be purchased as a second tag.  :bash: Dunno if 1400 tags will last till the 1st...  :yike:

I bought my general idaho deer tag back in december.  Glad i did, because the areas ive been poking around in up in unit 1 im seeing more mule deer than whitetail.  Never hunted muleys before, but i like having the option to take a big muley buck if i see one.  I may just hunt deer in idaho this year, skip my washington deer tag, just hunt predators in washington.  The big whitetail buck that ive been watching here since 2015, i was going to hunt him finally this year, hes gone.  Something got him.  Kind of killed my motivation to hunt deer here this year.  The bow may just collect dust this season.

I mean, they sent out e-mails as reminders as well.  I know a lot of people on here wanted an opportunity to hunt Idaho in general and weren't going to have that opportunity, so trying to help share the love a little.  I don't sympathize too significantly with a person who wants an additional tag... even though I fully understand why a person would want one.
