Backyard op
« on: April 13, 2009, 08:47:56 PM »
It was almost dark and I spotted this guy about 40 yards away in my backyard......I was watching his hen dig up my daylillys :bash: and he was on the other side of the path.  Knowing quail, I knew he's seek the highest spot.  I went and got my camera and got ready....shotting through two sets of double panes of DIRTY kitchen windows......offhand in the dark, over the kitchen sink.....LOL

Thanks.  I should get a closeup of that rock on here.  Its a fossil my grandfather found on Slate peak.  Probably should protect it from the weather, but kids always enjoy it more as they stop all the time as the walk the path to look at it.

You can see where Idabooner painted over it about 25 years ago when he spray painted the garage.  Damn...must have been lead paint.  I figure if the paint won't wear off then the fossil is probably fine.

Very cool pic as always Bone.  Thanks for sharing.  Love them little qualies, wanna get a male and a hen pair mounted flying and put them on the mantle.  Beautiful birds.

I especially like that last one, Bone.  Looks like you were able to get down for a little lower angle - that always helps alot.

OK, so its not a butterfly, but Lil Bone had a research project this year on Honey bees and I figured I'd help her out with some extra photos for her display.

Wow!  When I bring up our pics, it make my whole family gather behind me to see them.  "Thank you" doesn't begin to express our appreciation, but THANKS anyway!
