The Gunslingers inc Kenai chest rig looks like just what I need for my S&W 629 mountain gun 44 mag. It’s slightly different than a standard 629, including barrel profile and a little material on the cylinder. I contacted the company and they got back to me right away. Unfortunately they don’t have experience with this model, so they’re unable to answer whether it fits correctly. Anyone have experience with this combo? Thanks

No experience with the Kenai.

As an alternative, but Diamond D may be an option to consider for you.  They have multiple Model 629 options in the drop down, but I'd advise just contacting them and asking them.  I have the Model 627 Performance Center model, and it wasn't in their drop down but they made me a holster to fit it.  I ended up modifying my holster a little as I put a red dot sight on my pistol, so had to cut a notch for that.  I like these holsters quite a bit, especially with the extra pouches on the shoulder strap for my moon clips.

I also carry the S.W. 629 Mountain Gun. (My hunting leases are all in Grizzly country). I use a Galco cross draw that I am very happy with.  It does not get in the way of anything even while driving.
Galco makes their holsters gun and calibers specific.

Thanks everyone, I’m fairly certain it would work but since they’re fairly expensive (I don’t mind paying for quality!) I’m Hoping someone’s tried this combo. I believe they’re style relies on a snug fit.

Super happy with my kenai holster. He won’t refund you if you don’t like it or it doesn’t fit?

This doesn’t sound like Adam at all. I have had them fix / adjust holsters in the past and they do it with no questions.   I can’t imagine he would not refund money for a holster that is unused if the customer was not happy.

Try giving him a call or text

I’m ordering one for my G20. Seems like I asked him about my mountain gun awhile back but can’t remember.

Price seems right

I think this was a question from Pnwrider. I emailed them about fitment and they didn’t know since they aren’t familiar with this pistol. I’m just hoping someone knows before I order since I’d prefer a custom color combo. If I can’t verify beforehand I’ll probably order a stock color in case it doesn’t work out. I’m happy with their attempts to answer my question

Where are you located? I’ve got one for my g40 that you could try on if it would help. would give you a good idea on length at least (g40 has a 6” barrel). Your revolver is likely a little wider so wouldn’t be apples to apples. I’m Renton highlands area and commute down to auburn/fed way once or twice a week.

Thanks for the offer. I’m down in Grays Harbor.  I’m thinking I’ll probably purchase a standard color and if it won’t work send it back. I’m mostly concerned about how snug it fits around the cylinder since I mountain bike a fair amount

I use the Diamond D for my N framed 6" Smith 41 mag. It can be worn 2 ways , as a chest rig or off to the side. Chest rig is out of the way for everything!

Have you contacted Matt yet?  I emailed him a question before I ordered and he responded within 10 minutes. You can also text him to ask about the fit.

Yes,  emailed them first before posting here. This model is just slightly different from a standard 629-4, which they have. They just have not had a chance to ever test fit this model. Maybe I’ll try and get together with them when I take my kids over to silver wood sometime

No one seems to have tried this combo. I think it should fit, the question will be if it’s snug enough. I may call them and ask if I buy one if they’d accept a return if it doesn’t work out.

I have a 329 Night Guard that fits great and I believe the 629 is the same frame. There are differences in barrel length, cylinder, and frame (Metal) composition But I think yours should fit. I specified the open barrel portion to fit longer barrels if necessary. I think the molds are pretty generic to frame type so imagine yours should fit.

Love my holsters, have the one for the Night Guard and a G20. Great holsters!

I had one of the original Mountain Guns .
I believe the main difference is a tapered barrel and the edges of the cylinder are rounded.
It should fit ok.
Good luck.
I carry a SW 69 in a Diamond D and its a very comfortable way to carry.

I had eyes in my headlamp the other night coming out the woods, I figured it was a cat by the shape of the eyes and spacing, drew my G20 and switched on the weapon light...yup cat stalking us out, see plain as day  with the Streamlight TRL-1 HL

I'd really like a lighter weight option than a loaded G20 w light, but having that cat in the weapon light was sweet though, It was so blinded it was hitting stuff running away after I charged it with the light

Did you end up getting one?  I’m not loving the one I recommend in this post due to the rattling. I had to modify the attachment points with moleskin in the field.

No, I have not ordered one. I just recently learned the 629 mountain gun fits the standard 629 holster. I thought it probably would, but was glad to hear it from someone who has one. I was thinking of the fabric covers version because it may be quieter
