I talked to a woman today at WDFW, she said everyone who applied for a multi season deer tag would receive an email that would tell them when any surplus tags would be available.

Thats not very helpful if you didn't apply and just want to buy a left over   :)

Did not realize that.... the WDFW and I have an agreement... EVERY year I put in for everything, get drawn for nothing   and then I buy my multiseason deer tag in August,,, thought this year I would just skip that step, well damn...

I could send you a message when I get my email and you could go to the dealer and get turned down in person. Maybe you could get all pissed off and tell the clerk what you think of WDFW, MIght be fun for the other people in line. Just a thought.

:yeah: That happened to me last year. I totally spaced and forgot to put in for the drawing. Then I learned that since I didn’t put in I couldn’t buy the leftovers. It annoyed me at the moment but it is the fair way to distribute the tags in my opinion. I only wish they were a little faster at setting the leftover sale date so we can start making plans.

I like the way they are dealing with the 115 remaining multi season elk permits. That's the way it should have always been done. I guess the China virus is good for something.

Deer hunters who bought a multi-season tag application earlier this year but were not selected in the April drawing will have their chance to buy one of 2,723 remaining multi-season deer tags starting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18.

Available on a first-come, first-served basis, the tags can be purchased online at https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/#/login, over the phone at 360-902-2464, or at an authorized WDFW license dealer.

Hunters who want to buy a deer multi-season tag must have purchased a 2020 deer multi-season special hunt application and have a general season deer license before buying a multi-season tag. Hunters who already have their 2020 general season tag must surrender it by contacting the WDFW Licensing Department at 360-902-2464 before buying the multi-season tag.

Hunters who purchase a multi-season tag will not lose points in their multi-season special hunt application categories.

The next sequential 115 hunters on the original official draw list of elk multi-season tags will have an opportunity to buy those remaining tags. The existing official draw list from April is being used to prevent large group gatherings at retail locations during the COVID-19 pandemic and to keep the opportunity fair.

Elk hunters can also login on the WILD System after 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, to see if they are eligible to buy an elk multi-season tag. The 115 winners of the remaining elk multi-season tags will receive an email from WDFW notifying them that they are eligible to buy a multi-season elk tag.

For more information, visit https://wdfw.wa.gov/news/115-surplus-elk-multi-season-tags-awarded-2723-over-counter-deer-tags-available-aug-18.
