Actually, that is the SMARTEST elk I have ever seen.  He is safe man.  WHo's gonna risk taking a shot at him and getting nailed by WDFW?

I believe that is the Bengal elk, found only in India and Bangladesh.  :chuckle:

All three of you are correct.  Bengal Elk (otherwise known as Telk) are a carniverous, sabertoothed form of our American Elk species.  WDFW felt that we were lacking in predators in this state, so they have imported a pack from India and they are trying to intruduce them into the Clockum.  Their diet consists almost entirely of mature bull elk, mule deer bucks and bighorn rams.  Initially, they will compete with the bear, cougar and wolves for meat, but when the food supply runs low they will learn to cooperate and hunt together with the other large predators, making them even more effective.  They can climb trees, run 65 mph, know karate, and their saliva is poisonous to mammals.
Killing one is nearly impossible, but to do so results in Federal Prosecution and immediate incarceration at the newly closed facilities in Guantanimo Bay, Cuba, where you will be forced to read the Qaran and pray to a graven image of the Secretary of the Interior 5 times daily.
For anyone interested, the Save the Telk Foundation is having a Yogurt, Nuts and Twigs Fundraiser Breakfast at their newly acquired facility (formerly the National Guard Armory) in Okanogan.  Cost is $300 per plate.  Procedes will go to buy new "elk snares" for the Telk Feeding Station at Reecer Creek.
