Weyerhaeuser fire season
«
on:
August 04, 2020, 06:21:25 PM »
I just noticed there is a state wide burn ban. I have a weyerhaeuser permit which allows me to cut a set amount of firewood. Someone said I cant cut now. All I can seem to find out is,they go by DNR restrictions, I think. And it says it a level 1 and level 2 in western wa And further explains that as long as I have a regulation spark arrestor i can use it till stage 3. I need weyerhaeusers requirments, But cant find it anywhere, as to when /what is fire season to them. And when exactly there is no cutting. Thank you

It's in the rules somewhere. Which farm?
Last several years in Vail have been April15-Oct15 you can still get wood, you just can't use a chainsaw. Those dates align with DNR "Summer Fire Rules". Pretty conservative for permitees, imo.

Since it is a Weyerhaeuser permit you ever think about looking on their webpage and contacting them? Plus good luck finding any decent amount of firewood as it usually slim pickings.

I found tonnages of wood ready for the pickin. Problem is that you can take up to 12 footers, but all the ones I find, you cant pick up. I ook on their web sight, all it says is to refer to DNR, which is a little confussing. I emailed them at the required place, it said I would get an answer in a few minutes, but no answer yet as of yesterday.

I think DNR follows IFPL criteria for closures and restrictions, paper companies DEFINATELY follow these guidelines.. there are maps for areas and level 2 is partial closures or daytime allowance for power saws with level 3 being closed to power saws and firewatch restrictions ect..... Look into the area you want and what the current restrictions are.. it follows the loggers rules mostly. you will find links in DNR to this discussion...
They kind of dumb it down for campers and hikers but this above cites rules for power stuffs...ie saws, generators ect… oh, and as always, contact Wayerhaeuser directly

In north Cascades permit it says no chainsaws during fire season. And says fire season is April 15-Oct 15

Most timber companies have no power saw restrictions throughout fire season regardless of IFPLs. Those are primarily for logging operations which also have water tenders on site, and when fire danger gets bad enough require folks to stay behind at the end of the day to monitor that no small smolders are festering.
Obviously joe public in an obscure, BFE portion of the tree farm doesn't have those same safety nets.
I am not a purchaser of the Longview permit, but would be very surprised if the fire season language was different between permit areas. Check your permit, it's likely got the same language as jkononen's North Cascades agreement.

Thanks to all and jko. I finally noticed where it was listed on that document on line 20. I guess we can still pick it up. Problem with that is, the wood we found is all 2 1/2 to 3 foot around, and 3 feet long. I am looking at it and thinking it weighs as much as a whole elk. Now I am pretty strong, but I am thinking, " uhm NO "!

Lot's of wedges and splitting mauls.... Split it into halves or quarters to a size you can load. Look at it this way, Don't have to split it when you get it home.. Just cut them to size
