Inverter/Generator recommendations for camper

Was thinking about the Predator 3500 W Inverter from Harbor freight, has anyone used it?  Like it?  Any other recommendations for under  $1200

Have you calculated how much power you actually need? IMO it is really important to understand what you are trying to do with your generator. I have a 3500 watt, but i needed to be able to run an air compressor and a skill saw. My buddy has one of these Yamaha from Costco, and man are they nice and quiet.

im trying to buy a 3500w predator, but haven't found one in stock at my local stores yet.
Right now I am running a 3100w champion generator. I absolutely love it. its been worked WAY harder then any sane person would work a genset, has well over 1000 hours now, and still runs like a top. I just need a touch more power, and the harbor freight generator is a tad quieter, with electric start.

Tractor supply (I think) sells a 3500w predator under a different name as well.
There is a facebook group dedicated to the predator. most people seem to love em. They do require maintenance on the screens in the exhaust, they seem to need to be cleaned at 100 hours. some people have been re-jetting the carbs to make them run a bit cleaner with great success.

Ive been around some other inverter generators that are inexpensive, and haven't been impressed by any others besides the champion and predator.

I ended up going with a comparable Westinghouse instead of the predator.  Mostly because the Westinghouse has a 5 year warranty, and the Predator is only 90 days.  Price was about the same on Amazon.

We used a couple of Honda EU2000i in parallel.  Worked pretty well as no piece is over 50 pounds.

I plan to post an ad later today a little cheaper than I have it on CL.

I have a pair of Costco iPower generators with Yamaha engines,  paid like 400 something ea but I think the price went up a bit.

Had them for several years now and I love them,  nice to just grab one and go charge up a dead battery or hook them both up and run RV A/C unit,  or just run one if the AC isn't on.  I typically alternate them. 


I'm not going to say they're every bit as quiet or good as a $2000/ea Honda....but for the $ they a helluva lot better bang for the buck!

I have the Predator 3500 and it seems to perform good. I have about 100 hours on it so far. The only negative I have is it is a handful for one person to load.

I have a Champion I picked up on sale from Cabelas.  5 years old put fuel in it , change oil yearly non problems what so ever .

Ryobi 2200 watt inverter works great and is super quiet, can run 1 AC unit on a trailer have rans 2 freezers for 2 days straight during an outage.  Also can link another inverter to in to double the output.  I did a lot of research before I bought an inverter.  I figured I could buy at least 2 Ryobi's for 4400 watts total or 1 honda 2000.  I've had mine for 4 years now.

I will second the Ryobi 2300.  I bought one new last year, upgrading from an older Honda 1000.  The Ryobi is quiet and has worked like a champ.  I ran the heck out of it through two hunting camps and various camping trips.  I love the Bluetooth option so I can turn it off once I'm off to the rack, sweet option, and the Bluetooth monitors all the things important.  Oil change is very simple and quick.  I love the performance it has provided so far, not a single issue with it.

buddy of mine mentioned selling his 2 2000 watt predator generators, with the parallel kit this weekend. They have low hours and run perfect. if your interested in a used set I can get some numbers from him.
