Ammo?
« on: April 14, 2009, 12:06:49 PM »
Is anyone else having trouble finding handgun ammo?  Ive been looking for 38SW ammo and my father has been looking for 380 and 45 ammo.  Everywhere we go we get the same result, out of stock.  The retailers are having problems getting it from the manufacturers.  What gives???  Anyone have a clue???

I have a hard time finding a good price on rifle ammo.  Went to Sportsman's and it was 44 bucks a box.  Ouch!

Are you kidding!? This issue has been discussed at length on this site...

A run on ammo has been going on since before Obama was elected, fears of the Dems getting in control and regulating away or taxing away our access to supplies. Fear of civil unrest. And some who believe that during unrest on instability, ammo can be traded for anything, better than cash. I have also read that suppliers and manufacturers have issues with credit from banks and can only finance so much, so their output is lessened.

Sorry for starting out harsh, but this has been bothering alot of us, not being able to purchase ammo. Guys are buying guns for home defense, and cant get ammo for it.

I work at a gun store and will say that ammo is moving fast and has been for months. 9 mm and 380 are all but nonexistent in any quantities. The story is the same with reloading components such as powder and especially primers. I expect that the supply will come back some in the next few months, but for the time being, don't expect to find much. Buy what you can when you find it.

This is true for the nation as a whole. I've got buddies from Montana, Calif., Colorado, etc. who same its the same everywhere.  There is a feverish panic to buy anything and everything you can get before the gun and ammo ban legislature becomes law.  And reloading components are harder to come by than the actual loaded rounds themselves.  Every gun store near me, Cabela's, Sportsmans Warehouse, Midway, is out of primers indefinitely.  Brass and Powder can be found, but mostly in oddball sizes and brands.  If and when the market catches up, I know I'm not going to be caught flat footed again.  I'm stocking up on enough reloading components to get me through one of these extended dry spells.

That is unless Obama and our liberal congress/senate squeak through a bill closing all legal avenues to obtain this stuff........................

I spent all afternoon yesterday looking for some .35 Rem. I found two boxes after visiting five different stores. Granted it's not a real popular caliber, but of the five there was only one that didn't stock it at all. I picked up the last three boxes of 00 buckshot I found too.

Does anyone know when Sportsman's Warehouse is going to get their *censored* together and start getting ammo ordered? The guy at the SW counter couldn't give me a straight answer. I heard they're having problems since the buyout. Now the Joe's is going away, SW will be the only big outdoor store here.
