Anyone else using FUDS? Fold Up Decoys? 10% Discount Code
« on: August 18, 2020, 09:27:31 AM »
These seem pretty life like on the water and are very compact if room is lacking. If you want 10% off you can use discount code "Mowbray" at checkout. Full Disclosure: I do not make any money from the sale of these.

I bought a sample last year and haven't taken it out.  For me, weight is more of a concern than size and these end up weighing about the same as a plastic decoy because the metal weight is heavy and it is not removable.  So, there isn't a weight benefit over cheap plastic decoys, especially water keel.  You could pack a ton in a boat, but they you would be spending an hour putting dozens of them together and taking them apart for storage.  They would be hard to assemble with gloves on dark cold mornings.

Construction is fine, graphics are fine, they seem like they would last, but I just couldn't think of a situation where they would be what I reached for.  Maybe some niche application.

I want to get some geese ones because this would be a major space saver in the boat. right now we use 3 full bodies and those take as much room as a full decoy bag of ducks. Nice they lay flat and could just toss them in the bottom of the boat as well.

My Thoughts:

1) Those things look silly as all get out.
2) Moving parts equal broken parts when the mercury drops.
3) They cost nearly the same as many plastic decoys.
4) Time is everything when hunting and I don't have any to waste and certainly don't want to get up earlier to allow assembly time.
5) The shooting demonstration is silly. If you shoot your mallard decoys you deserve to have to buy new ones. If you are diver hunting and you don't have foam filled decoys you are silly.

I am sure I could find a way to see these as useful such as kayak hunting or some other limited space application but short of that I see a gimmick product ready to be sold the the largest group of suckers in the world...... hunters! We will buy anything....LOL
