Hey Guys

Looking for some thoughts on what you’re using and why; specifically in a stock Glock. Thanks

What do expect to be on the receiving end of the ammo?

Had some issues with a black bear last year in camp

For bear the Underwood hardcast recommended above would be a good choice provided it stabilizes from your barrel.  I wouldn’t recommended anything heavier than 200g.  Shoot 4 or 5 rounds into some cardboard and make sure that the holes are round.  Glock barrels don’t do well with lead but hardcast helps and the coating should help.  Check your barrel after a few rounds and clean the leading out if needed.

Midway usually has Underwood in stock.  Underwood also makes a 180g bonded JHP @ 1300 fps.  That should do the job as well.

X-treme Penetrators from Underwood or Lehigh is what I carry in that exact pistol.

+1 for the hardcast underwood in my stock barrel.  I dont worry about long term barrel performance or fouling as I practice with cheap stuff and dont expect to fire more than a couple rounds from a few yards if it’s self defense.  If it’s defense against a woods walking meth-o-sapien I figure the gun will be in a police locker anyway while the court sorts it out.

Thanks guys. I just ordered directly from Underwood; cheaper with shipping than Midway. Went with the 200 grains. I picked up a couple boxes of HSM “Bear Load” awhile back when they were the only thing left on the shelves.

Buffalo Bore makes some good hard hitting loads also.
