2019 Sherwood Memorial Bull by Blackriver Taxidermy
« on: August 23, 2020, 03:23:46 PM »
I had the honor and privilege last year of taking part in the 2019 Dave Sherwood Memorial hunt.  I ended up tagging a 5x5 bull with nice dark antlers with white tips.
Being my 1st after years of trying I decided to do a shoulder mount with him.  I took him straight to Joel at Blackriver Taxidermy.  He did an outstanding job on the Euro on my 2017 bear, and he was on the way home from were I was hunting so it just worked out perfect.  Just like with my bear, Joel was great about sharing ideas on how to do the mount so it showed him off, but more importantly fit in the limited space I had to hang him.
I got the Text last week that he was ready and made the run south Sat Morning.  Wow, pictures do not do Joel's work justice.  I am very happy with how he turned out and Joel managed to preserve the New Kids on the Block frosted tips hairstyle this bull had.  Anyone needing a full mount, Euro, or a rug done, drop him a line.  He is well worth the drive.

Finally up in his new habitat

Thanks guys, I am really happy with him and how he turned out.
Forgot to thank membership here for the help and guidance over the years, it helped for sure.
A special shout out to @WapitiTalk1 for taking me under his wing a bit and getting me hooked early on.

He does incredible work and as mentioned is very good/easy to work with.  He is open for questions and offering ideas, which for a newby like me is golden when trying to figure out how to have your animal preserved.  This guy for example I had planned to do a packboard, but due to space where I needed to hang him and his size it was not practical.  Joel walked me thru some ideas and let me me run down and take a look at a few mount styles he was doing them for other customers so I could see up close my options.  Just a great guy that enjoys talking about taxi, hunting, etc.  The bear next to the bull was done by him a few years back and working with him, and seeing the quality of work in his shop while there is what sold me and he is now my Taxi for anything I happen to get down.
