Gametote Cart, or other heavy duty cart with brakes
« on: September 16, 2020, 03:31:59 PM »
My Dad and Uncle whom I hunt a fair amount with have both voiced their opinions that they're getting to old to be packing heavy loads out on their backs. They still get around fine, have plenty of get up and go, but the pain and suffering of packing elk out miles and miles has taken it's toll. I've been researching heavy duty game carts, and came upon the Gametote.

https://gametote.com/

It's expensive, but it looks like the real deal especially if two people are involved. I was going to place an order today, but they are out of stock. Anyone know of something similar that I'm just not finding?

Critical attributes include high weigh limit, #500+ (mainly because they don't want something that will bend or fall apart under moderate weight loads like we've had in the past), collapsible, has a brake system.
I hunt, therefore I am.... I fish, therefore I lie.

We don't have one. But that's the cats meow right there! You can't build one for that price, unless you have access to the tools to do it. A whole elk gutted out.  Thats impressive.  Should be able to make money with it renting it out when called upon!

We built several along that same principle years ago.  Only major problem we had was the center of gravity is real high, so when it starts to tip over...it's over.  Had it happen bad once, when we were way back in, on a steep mountain trail, and we were young and strong, and so we tried to save it from rolling over down the hill.  Both low side handles broke, and down over the hill it went...and went. They worked much better than the two wheeled ones ones on side hills though.  An old style Stokes basket, (the wire covered ones) worked well for a base.  Made two out of those.  Also, don't take one into a wilderness area, as it is considered a "mechanical means of conveyance".  Learned that lesson the hard way back in the early '80's
