I have nothing to add, but I feel like it would be a mistake not to follow this thread.  This has the potential to pass the Bigfoot thread in Hunt-WA importance... :peep:

Some bear poop is staggering.  I had one taking a dump in my yard this summer that had been eating plums.  I was curious.  I broke one up and found 217 pits.  They were small, but still, for even small plums, that's a lot of plums.

I once was bow hunting elk in SW WA in an area of mixed wetlands and Douglas-fir forest. There were a lot of the native crabapple trees, and apparently a very large black bear had been gorging on the tiny apples. It had left several piles of scat that were 2-3 gallons in volume. It staggered me that that was possible. The crabapples were still recognizable,  but the bear must have derived some nutrition from them.
