Mason County Grouse
« on: September 02, 2020, 09:34:21 AM »
I'm going to be in Mason county for the next week or so and was wondering if anyone hunting grouse there. The interactive map of hunting access doesn't have birds or small game filters available so I'm just looking for a place to start looking.

Thanks!

I'm sure they are there but don't know where to you point you to.  I'd find some forest service roads and give it a go.

I find this stuff super confusing. Forget honey holes, I'm just looking to avoid trespassing or poaching charges.

I'm looking at GMU 633, and to the east of Benson lake looks like a big chunk of state land. Can people hunt there?

Depending on what end of Mason County you are in, the Olympic National Forest may provide more opportunity. If you're on the west end of 633, it's just as close/ closer.

I'll be on the east end, Mason Lake. I wouldn't mind the drive to Oly State Forest, but the maps show this 2500 acre DNR plot that would literally be minutes away. I think it would make sense to try there first, provided its legal of course.
