Goat Rocks Scouting
« on: September 02, 2020, 09:19:07 PM »
I'm heading into the Goat Rocks Wilderness tomorrow to do some hiking/scouting and hoping to find some elky terrain.  I'm trying to decide if I should go in at Berry Patch or Lily Basin, or somewhere else.  I know it will be busy with other hikers but just curious as to what other would recommend? Thanks in advance.

General muzzy, thanks.  Just looking for a starting point to get some good views of the valleys.  I know the animals wont be on or near the trails but have to start somewhere.

I wouldn’t waste your time, well unless you wanna waste half your season hunting wilderness that has no elk numbers anymore. Can go days in September without a bugle . Hasn’t been good for 15 years .

Good choice going to St. Helens. Tons of good areas just get off the beaten path a little ways.
