Bugling

Well we avoided the big hollow fire closures only to find that there is another fire that set off East of it and that one blew our early season spot. Headed out to the peninsula to try our hands at jungle bulls. Have spent these days hiking steep and deep. Plenty of sign. Saw one sandy bull at midnight. Haven’t heard anything. Has anyone anywhere in western WA heard any bugling yet?

Had 3 bulls raging yesterday! My buddy has a Rimrock bull tag and got with in 50 yards but couldn’t get a lane through the trees. Good luck in the jungle

Had them screaming last night and this morning... had a piece of #%^* literally run in between my buddy and I and a bull this morning had him coming in on a string about 100yds as we as well as him were making our way towards each other then out of the woodwork this guy is literally running down to the bull, don’t know where he came from or seen him again but glad we didn’t see him again!

Been to two different places I’ve seen the elk within the past week and haven’t heard a bugle yet. Despite spending a night at both spots. Was on a couple small bulls opening morning but were silent as well. Tried another spot after seeing way too many people, silence at backup spot

I was hunting the peninsula also and haven’t heard a bugle. Talked to other guys up there and they haven’t heard anything also.

Went to set up opening morning looking to try just some cow calling and a bull started screaming. Bugeled back and the game was on. No elk yet but was fun so far.

Sounds like people are getting some hits. We got up to some elevation this morning and heard a few. Probably hunters. Good luck to everyone out there.

I was steep and deep, no they weren’t bugling. Yes they made some noise when I invaded their space. Cows were very spooky. I’m wondering if they were more nervous then usual because they couldn’t smell as well with the smoke. On a different note, I had a 6 point at 35 yards broadside come in quietly to a few cow calls, I didn’t shoot, I don’t know why. I’m not sure how it all happened. Poop happens.

Back in mid July, a bull bugled at me or so it seemed. He was only 30 yards away and I was standing taking pictures of him.

Sounds like some are getting some. It’s been quiet here. Maybe another Hunter here and there..
We’re in the 615 Clearwater GMU for what it’s worth.
