My experience with the EZ-V Bowsight
« on: September 04, 2020, 11:34:43 AM »
Finally got one of these for my 15 year old son.

To start off he was using a 3 pin sight and was decent out to 20 yards but really had consistency issues beyond that. He lost lots of arrows on a regular basis and when the pressure was on he just couldn't keep the pins steady enough and it got worse. It was getting to the point that he wanted to go back to shooting a rifle and wasn't enjoying shooting his bow.

My kid is currently shooting a Diamond Edge Pro at 52 pounds at 220fps
(used a chronograph and tweaked it to get it to 220)
That gives him the insert ranged out to 50 yards.

Day one: I eye balled the 20 yard hash-mark on the V to where his pin sight was and bolted it on. A few small tweaks and he was consistently hitting about a 4-5 inch group in 5 minute or so at 20 yards.

Day 2: We went out to our friends property where we have a range setup out to 80 yards all marked out. And I just had him practice using the hash-marks at what ever range he wanted to try. He quickly was getting 2-3 inch groups at 20-30 yards and was shooting high at 40-50 yards. At this point I didn't make any more adjustments I just wanted him to get used to the site picture. But he was having fun so this is a WIN!

Yesterday: We took him into an empty field away from our usual range where he didn't have known ranges and just randomly moved a block target around the yard inside 50 yards for him. Then had him tell us what he thought the range was using just the V and he was always within 1-2 yards , and inside 30 he is now getting 1-2 inch groups and his confidence is growing.. at 40 yards hes high and at 50 hes shooting over the portable block target...

We go back to our normal range and I tweak the site a little and have him send a shot at 40 and 50 yards and now he is dialed in. He spends the next 30 minutes shooting between 20-50 yards and his groups are tightening quickly. Now hes hitting the center of our target every time inside 30 and 40-50 hes consistently getting around 3-4 inch groups... That is better than many people do with pins.

So people can say what ever they want about the EZ-V but that's all the proof I need. I went from having a kid that wanted to quit shooting to having to make him take breaks. He is now confident and enjoys shooting and just keeps getting better. The adjustments are simple and solid, and I don't see any reason it would need the more advanced micro adjustments that a lot of new sights have, it might save you a minute or two in adjusting but at a cost of more bulk and weight. It wont be for everyone but if you or your kid are having issues, give it a go it might just surprise you.
I know it surprised me.

Thanks for the detailed review. I’ve always wondered if they were a gimmick. Glad it got him back on track.

I was skeptical but I am impressed by it now. It does what it says and its capable of being way more accurate then I would have thought.
I may just try it myself next season depending how this season goes. I do think its possible I would have gotten an elk a week earlier last year with one.

We live out on the coast in Ocean Shores and shoot often up in Porter (near Elma).. If anyone is in the area and wants to check it out in person I would gladly try and let you check it out. unless its during my elk season lol.
