Sayleans Day 1, Monroe

Went to do a little scouting/hunting. Didnt really get out there till bout 3 pm today.
Unfortunetly, many of the D and R gates for which I have the key for, have a PUD lock on them as well, so I am unable to get to some of the areas.
Despite this, I had a nice time getting to know the area.
I finally get to a slightly promising area, climb a stump (bout 10 ft or so) and let the area cool down for bout 15 minutes or so.
Brush is bout 10-20 ft tall, thick and surrounded by mature trees. A nice spot.
I decide to blow the predator call, screaming rabbit...not within 3 minutes I hear something coming to my left and also to my right. The one on the right is really coming in..gets within about 40 yards...
coyote vs. .300 wsm.
end of story. Not a bear, but I am happy to have ended my coyote jinx. The pics of the brush are of where I called from. He came from out of the trees a bit. I never did see what the animal was coming on my left.

Very cool. If ya can't drop a bear, a coyote is always nice.

Very nice Saylean, glad to hear an actual hunting report. You have lots of time and it will be best in mid to late May so hold out brother.

Good job! At least you weren't undergunned. Thanks for posting the pictures.
I'm curious, what is "D and R?" I'm wondering if you mean DNR, as in Department of Natural Resources?
