Well fed bears. Just asking for a friend.
« on: September 10, 2020, 01:40:43 PM »
A lot of people in North Eastern Washington have been without power since Monday. Some of them don't have generators and have lost all the contents of their freezers. They are taking the stuff and dumping it in the woods.
So if you shoot a bear that is hanging around one of those piles are you an oppertunist. How would the baiting laws work on this?

On paper, as you describe, it is illegal to hunt bears over bait.

I thought most people in the NE had an old school bus buried that was a root cellar  :chuckle:
To hunt and butcher an animal is to recognize that meat is not some abstract form of protein that springs into existence tightly wrapped in cellophane and styrofoam.

Sucks to lose a freezer full of food but hopefully they aren't dumping all the plastic and packaging along with the food. Though I suspect that's the case from the amount of plastic trash I find dumped along forest roads. Bad news for any animal that eats it, and just plain sh*tty

No we pulled the motor and thats where we keep the coolers under the hood to keep the bears out.
I ended up loaning one of my generators to the neighbor.  But another was busy trying to find one.

I'm guessing that this happened to quite a few people.

So, do I bring a freezer or extra generator?
Economy failure = Too many people spending money they don't have on things they don't need to impress people they don't like.

That would be the same people who dump all their garbage in the woods, never taking a thing to the land fill.

If you had a couple to rent you could have paid for fuel.

Perhaps I should clarify my question.  People went and dumped the contents of the freezer next to the road.  You come wandering along and you see a bear. BANG now you have some work to do.  But when you drive up to it you find a dump pile.

I wasn't advocating to sit and watch it.

Buy a generator

Have one running as I respond to this.  Chief financial manager gave the green light for a whole house unit.
Watching the neighbors house flashlight waving all around.  Went to check.  They are OK.  Just chasing down a frog.😂😂😂 apparently got in through the swamp cooler.

Is the reason for the flashlight
