Wall tent

what is the best solution or method I can use or due to my wall tent to treat it? (Im thinking Thompson's water seal type stuff??) I want it to make it last longer.  Any ideas ? Its a Large canvas wall tent from Western wall tents.  Its about 9 years old and its only get used and up for 3 weeks a year in September.

Canvak canvas preservative is what I have always used. Thompson's water seal is designed for wood not canvas.
I use a pump style sprayer or aka piss pump to apply it.

Cleaning the tent after end of season goes along way. Grit and dirt on the tent when it is stored is hard on canvas. I set mine up in the yard when I get home and hose it off good. Then dry it. If its raining out I dry it in the garage.

Mine are five years old and never sealed them. still shed water.

Using a clean tarp or fly over it when in use helps a lot.

Hot sun days are ok for awhile but direct sun is hard on everything.

Canvak if you have to seal.

I've always used Canvak as well.  I apply it with a cheap pump up weed sprayer.  Make sure it can stay up for about a week to dry thoroughly, and air out after treatment.  Grampa used to melt paraffin, and mix diesel with it.  Funny thing is...Canvak smells exactly like that concoction did.

I’ve always used Canvek and a cheep sprayer from Harbor Freight. Used it on an old Army tent manufactured in 1945, sprayed it every 5 years or so for 20 years. It was still water tight when I sold it.

I did the canvak but I put it on with a roller. Sprayer would probably be easier. I thought I was putting it on a little thick. Took a week or more to air out so the smell was bearable.

Use Canvak in a sprayer to seal it.

Thanks for the tips guys...keep them coming. Does anyone have any tips/suggestions i might want to do/use when i put it on that ""Canvak"" doesn't say/mention in the instructions/application process???. The smell was mentioned and this concerns me.  This time of year living in western washington I don't see how I can let it sit set up with out it getting rain on it. Would it be stupid to fold it up and store it until next September when its slightly damp from the Canvak spry solution.  Also im willing to entertain the idea of using a different type of solution if someone else presents a different. Thanks again.

I didn't think the smell was that bad, all treated tents have a smell to them which goes away over time. It just need to be dry when you apply Canvak or any other preservative. Like most of us have suggested using a pump sprayer. I treat my tent about once every five years. Start spraying from the top down. You will see the color change as you are spraying indicating areas that have been spayed.
