Idaho area 10A Rifle elk and deer hunting thoughts
« on: September 26, 2020, 06:44:08 AM »
Looking for info from someone who has recently (last couple of years) actually hunted area 10A with a rifle for elk and deer.
Last year I bow hunted the the Salmon area. I then went back to rifle hunt deer 10A around and south of Elk River which is barley touching the unit. Last year, I was just camping out of the back of my truck. This year, I am thinking tent camping with a heater and maybe bringing a four wheeler. Looking at going over 8th, (opens on the 10) to the 16th or 20. Or maybe towing my camper over. A four wheeler would access a lot more country.

Please PM me if you actually hunted elk and deer in 10a.
There are only so many sunrises left.

We hunted last year around Headquarters for elk. Lots of clear-cuts but very little elk sign. Many camps setup with no one in them. They must be waiting for the last part of the season. We saw fresh deer and wolf sign almost every day. One night the wolves were howling within a couple hundred yards of camp. Maybe we should have been West of the reservoir.
