Quality toutle archery elk experience and questions
« on: September 27, 2020, 09:01:53 PM »
Well I spent all of early archery season with my father in-law we hunted sun up to sun down daily hunted the 3000line high mostly but down low a few times as well.twice he had bulls in legal shooting hours in evening where he could see sites that issue has now been corrected as he bought new site now , made several attempts never got into his preferred range of under 50 yards we tried and tried and never made it happen . We scouted all summer he put in a lot or miles and time while there were some mistakes we made definitely, where I am sure patience on a move may have got us  but looking for advice for late season . He may never get a quality tag again and I don’t like the thought of that. Any thoughts inputs ,or late  season habits  we may need to pay attention too. I do have several hunts coming up but I know he has already planned a few more scouting trips . I know weather will play a huge part any info guys would be greatly appreciated

We tried a few years ago in the late hunt. Was too much snow and ended up in a ditch. Didnt see any elk either. Was a little dissapointing

Those Elk will come off the river every Morning, I would have started my hunt down the 5600 line on the river bottom, they will work there way up the hill during the day for bedding..   The Elk come off the river bottom every single day,  Ive hunted it on 2 separate tags and the elk did the same thing both years I've hunted it... Good luck, late season will be much tougher with archery equipment..
Their going down!!!

I was one of the 20 archery bull tags. I tagged out on the 4th day with a lot of action daily. Weather is like you said,  a huge factor for late season. I have been up the 3000 year round for several years and if the snow pack is good, you should have no problem finding them down low.
