Awesome write up and great bull!

I love the pic of the bike all loaded up, often have thought about ways to pack out loads on a bike without a trailer..

I've never actually done it, but I think the reality is that any more than 1 quarter at a time on a bike trailer on a logging road, on anything but downhill or totally level is going to be TOUGH to pedal through.  Even if you are downhill, you'd better hope those brakes are rock solid, otherwise you'll be in the ditch.  If its just one quarter, you're almost better with it on your back and riding the bike with it on you...

The reality is, its never flat where elk live.  Pushing the bike is one of the only ways to maintain control.  Whether its 1 quarter or 3, you're probably going to want to push your bike to avoid ditching it or expending so much energy that you're sacked.  If I were to do it again, I'd strap two quarters to the bike at a time, push it out and ride it back.  That would be the right amount of energy to not burn yourself out, and keep speed to the process.

You're so awesome.

I'm just glad you started killing bears without me!

Let's all of us leave these two alone for a little bit. It sounds like they need private time.
It's starting to sound like we all know what mountain they'll be camping on...

Not giving away our honey hole, but its up there on the backside of Broke Mountain.  We haven't run into many other hunters up there.

I went back already for a re-read.....so cool. A solo diy archery elk hunt on a dandy bull is legit. No doubts.

I am sure not all trailers are created equal but we have loaded an entire elk in one before and it was not too bad. easier to push up a hill than a game cart for sure and you could pedal the flats and coast downhill.  Riding the brakes to ensure it did not get away from you!
In God we trust, all others bring cash.

Do not say, Why were the old days better than these? For it is not wise to ask such questions.
