I am confused about Fall Turkey hunting regulations
« on: October 01, 2020, 12:41:48 PM »
I've checked all over the WDFW site looking for Turkey regulations and all I see for Fall Turkey guidelines are the two regulations for specific GMUs, picture attached. Does this mean this is the only place you can hunt Fall Turkey or are these just special rules. Thanks for any clarification anyone can add

Only open in those GMU's. Not open elsewhere.

In the hunting 19-20 hunting pamphlet it shows regular statewide bag limit is 4 except these areas which is why I am confused.

Only open in those GMU's only.  There is a permit draw for Okanogan and the Teanaway for the fall.  Fall turkey regs are in the the water fowl and upland game regs now.

I appreciate the clarification, also, thank you. I didn't get a gobbler this past spring so I was thinking I'd get the fall tag and look for turkeys while hunting upland birds this fall. Now I just have to figure out where these GMU's are and if they have upland birds, also. And to train my bird dog to point turkeys :)

Lots of quail and grouse.  Most GMU's open are way eastern WA about the center or WA east.  Careful it is not legal to hunt turkeys with a dog.  I have hunted Evans, Kettle Falls, Collville they all hold lots of grouse, quail and turkey.

Thanks Russ. I appreciate the heads up on birds, and I was only joking about the dog.

A lot of states actually allow hunting with did in the fall for turkey.  It is actually in this year's. WDFW 3 year season and policy setting.

Well, it would add another dimension to having a bird dog.

Also, if you bought a tag in spring it's good for fall as well if it didn't get used.

Soo to sort this out as I was a bit confused as well... BUT did my homework soo this is what I found out?
2 beardless (means HENS or young birds undeveloped), then (2) Cocks, a bearded Turkey which can be a young boy or and olde' Cock with a hanging feathered Beard off it's neck base. Soo thge bottum line is {4} bird per tag from Sept. to Dec. 31st. WOW WE did not have this oppotunity back then...

Back when? I shot my first turkey in this state when the annual harvest was about 100 birds...now it is about 5000.
